Moving

Most people who are making a cross country move experience a little trouble when deciding which long distance moving company is best. Each year an average of about 17% of the people living in the United states will decide to relocate. Out of that 17%, 6.7% relocated to another state. When people relocate to another state they normally require the services of a cross country moving company or a long distance moving company.

These types of moving companies are not the same as local moving companies as they have to be licensed by the DOT to make such moves. In some states, a mover can be fined as much as $4,000 for making illegal long distance moves. People who are moving to another state should always check to make sure their long distance moving company has the proper license. If you want to be sure your moving company is licensed by DOT, go to the DOT website for more info on how to find out.

More than half of the long distance moves are done for job related reasons. One third of the long distance moving customers are retired people moving out of state to a retirement center for seniors. If you are going to be making a long distance move soon there are certain things to look for in a good long distance moving company. Keep in mind that costs are not the only consideration. It is important to do a thorough research on the long distance moving company you are going to use.

Do not just hire the cheapest long distance moving company you can find. Reputation is extremely important. Look for a long distance moving company that has great reviews online for professionalism and reliability. Also, look for moving companies that maintain a reliable fleet of moving trucks and vans. The last thing you need is for their moving trucks or vans to break down during your move, especially if you have a time schedule to keep because of your new job requirements.

I never thought about long distance movers needing a special license to move people across state lines. That is good info to know.

The cheapest long distance movers may seem like a good deal but in the end they can end up costing you even more than a normal long distance mover.
