As such, almost every state attempts to capitalize on tourism by attempting to cultivate public interest in their states. The state of Hawaii is no different; but unlike other states, Hawaii has a lot more going for it. Thus, Hawaii offers a variety of different tours that include, but are not limited to, the Dole plantation tour, USS Arizona tours, and USS Missouri tours. Of course, the USS Arizona was sunk during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941, and is now part of the Pearl Harbor tour.

Besides the Pearl Harbor tour, among the more popular tours in Hawaii are Oahu tours. Being the third largest and most populous Hawaiian island, years ago Oahu became known as The Gathering Place. Tourists who experience Hawaii tours oahu never miss out on the tragic history that can be found on the Pearl Harbor tour; and one of the most popular parts of the Pearl Harbor tour is the USS Arizona Memorial, the creation of which was approved by President Eisenhower in 1958. Although Hawaii did not receive statehood until that same year, significant history is on display at the Pearl Harbor Memorial.
